I’m a Mom. A daughter. A wife. A friend. A binge-TV show fan. A cyclist. A lover of coffee and PJ’s.
I work various jobs. I’m a sometime ecologist/scientist, writer, teacher/tutor. Whatever fits with our lifestyle and brings in some cash!
We live in Melbourne. Before this, we lived in Queensland, California, Colorado, Tasmania and Adelaide. I’m not moving again. I’m getting old!
This photo is old. In the next one I’ll be wearing sunglasses!
You’re gorgeous, Jo!!!
I just found your blog today! Ohhh, I think we’re gonna hit it off – biology, writing, unschooling (I’m not radical yet, but yanno, give me time), Harry Potter, Twilight!!! You HAVE to read Hitchhikers – not kidding. Can’t wait to read more :-)
Another Twihard! yay! Lovely to see you here, Ingrid – i’m still getting through reading your blog, and learning all about you and your two children also! I’m ashamed to say i STILL haven’t got to Hitchikers! I just reserved Lord of the Flies from the library, and picked up Celestine Prophecy (which i read WAY back!) and The Selfish Gene at a local school fete for pretty much nothing…so i’m all booked out for now!
Ah, well y’know Douglas Adams did the Last Chance to See series. He’s all about the biology–well, maybe not all about the biology….
Ha ha! I love Last Chance to See, haven’t seen the new TV one with Stephen Fry, though looking forward to it. Still haven’t read Hitchikers – fail! Recently finished To Kill A Mockingbird for the first time – just amazing!
Hi, i’ve just discovered your blog, and it’s really lovely. We seem to have lots in common. I’ve been unschooling for almost 3 years, and very interested in radical unschooling, so your website is very inspiring. Looking forward to reading lots more. Plus I also love Harry Potter! xx
Hi! Thanks for stopping by :) Feel free to post more comments too! Where abouts are you in the world?
We’re in the north of England at the moment. Though planning to do some travelling in the next year as we love exploring new places. I’d love to move abroad at some point as i’ve lived in England all my life. Feeling like I need a change. xx
hi – have just discovered your blog! We have just begun our homeschooling journey – its all very new but i’m so excited at the prospect of spending more time with my girls. Reading your Blog and about the freedom you have to spend time with your son reminds me of all the reasons why we have chosen this path for our family. I’ve been very concerned about organising lessons and curriculum for the kids to follow and this whole ‘unschooling’ concept intrigues me. Would love to know more about it and how to help my girls transition into it after being schooled. My daughters are 9, 7, 5, 3, and 1.
Hi Rita! Congratulations on your descision! I would recommend you start with reading all things Sandra Dodd about unschooling (there is a link on my blog) also, John Holt books about natural learning, and there is a great ebook if you are just starting out with unschooling by Pam Laricchia, which you can get from here http://www.livingjoyfully.ca/ (called Free to Learn).
Where abouts are you?? Jo
How did I not know you had a blog? And that you were into photography? Looking forward to reading more about you and Kai!
I keep it quiet! lol! I figure people will find it if they want to, and if i advertise it, then I have to be better at remembering to write the bloody thing! Don’t read too far back – it gets kinda dodgy while I was finding my way in unschooling ;)
Hi there, I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and interested in radical unschooling. I live in Brighton SA. Would love an opportunity to meet you and see what it’s like and ask some questions! Hope to hear from you soon :)
So glad to have stumbled onto your blog. We are just starting on the unschool path and are still not “out” about it. It is reassuring to hear of others’ experiences in unschooling (even though we are not radical unschoolers). Our children are Keegan/10 & Kairi/8 1/2.
Hey nice to see you again! Enjoying your blog… (We met at the Sandra Dodd symposium in SA and you and Kai came up once to pick blackberries… In case you wonder ‘ Who’s this random..??!’…
